VELODONNAS ORIENTATION RIDE
Date: Saturday May 2, 2009
Time: 10:00am - 12:00pm
Location: Assiniboine Park, Zoo parking lot.
OPEN TO EVERYONE - FREE OF CHARGE. Come out and meet some new riding partners! Find out what Velodonnas is all about. We'll go over some basics of group riding as well as pedaling/braking, shifting/gearing and cornering. Don't wait to get your bike tuned up - book an appointment with your local mechanic today!

INTRODUCTION TO MOUNTAIN BIKE SKILLS (Workshop #1)
Date: Thursday May 21st, 2009
Time: 6:00pm - ~9:00pm
Location: Johnston Terminal, The Forks (parking area shared by Children's Museum and the hotel)
Facilitators: Karin McSherry & Andrea Richardson (?)
Skills: Basics of pedaling/braking, shifting/gearing, climbing/descending, wheel lifts, slow speed manoeuvres, bike/body separation.

ADVANCED MOUNTAIN BIKING (Workshop #2)
Date: Tuesday June 2nd, 2009
Time: 6:00pm - 9:00pm
Location: Johnston Terminal, The Forks, (parking area shared by Children's Museum and the hotel)
Facilitator: Karin McSherry and ?
Skills: Advanced skills such as wheelies/drops, high speed cornering, riding skinnies/teeter totters etc.

ADVANCED ROAD RIDING (Workshop #3)
Date: Saturday June 13, 2009
Time: 10:00am - 2:00pm
Location: Assiniboine Park, Zoo parking lot. (or Birds Hill Park)
Facilitator: Kylie Case, Karin McSherry & Erin Carter(?)
Skills: Advanced handling skills like sprinting, passing, touching wheels, mentality of riding in large groups, echelon riding etc.

Private / Semi Private lessons: Unsure about joining the club group rides right away? Contact us or call Karin (233-4701) to arrange a time for a private or semi private (max. 4 riders) tutorial to assess your skills and build your confidence. Road or MTB.
Cost: $5 for Velodonnas members, $15 for non members.

WHAT TO BRING:
A bike in good working order
A spare tube, pump & patch kit
Bottle or hydration pack with H2O or other fluid replacement
An energy bar (or 2)
Spare change
Small laminated card with name, address, emergency contact, medical # etc...
WHAT TO WEAR:
Helmet is mandatory on all rides...no exceptions
Cycling shorts
Cycling jersey/top
Sunglasses
Cycling gloves
Sunscreen
